Robert H. Schottenstein Named Chair of the Policy Advisory Board of the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Robert H. Schottenstein, Chairman, CEO, and President of M/I Homes, is the new Chair of the Policy Advisory Board (PAB) of the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies.

“As our Policy Advisory Board gets ready to meet in Washington, DC next month, I couldn’t be more pleased to have Bobby at the helm,” said Chris Herbert, Managing Director of the Joint Center for Housing Studies. “He brings decades of experience in the US homebuilding industry, plus experience providing leadership to academic institutions, both of which will be invaluable in helping the PAB further its mission of advancing housing as a national priority.”

Schottenstein has more than 40 years of experience in the real estate industry. Based in Columbus, Ohio, M/I Homes is one of the largest homebuilders in the US. Schottenstein joined the company in 1990, was named President in 1996, Chief Executive Officer in 2004, and elected Chairman in 2004. In 2008, he was named national “Executive of The Year” for the homebuilding industry by Builder Magazine.

For many years, Schottenstein has been active in a number of business and charitable organizations. He currently serves on the board of Installed Building Products, Inc., one of the nation’s leading installers of insulation and complementary building products, is a member and board chair of Pelotonia, a member of The Columbus Partnership, serves on the board of OneColumbus, is a board member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, serves on the board of The Ohio State University Foundation, and is a board member of Jewish Federations of North America. From 2005-2014, he served as a trustee of The Ohio State University and was Chairman of the Ohio State University Board from 2012-2014.

The Center also announced that the Policy Advisory Board’s new Vice Chair is Keith Rozolis, President and CEO of ABC Supply Company.

The Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies advances understanding of housing issues and informs policy. Through its research, education, and public outreach programs, the Center helps leaders in government, business, and the civic sectors make decisions that effectively address the needs of cities and communities. Through graduate and executive courses, as well as fellowships and internship opportunities, the Center also trains and inspires the next generation of housing leaders. 
 
Established in 1971, the Joint Center for Housing Studies Policy Advisory Board has a longstanding history of supporting housing research at Harvard. The group also serves as a distinguished national forum for leading companies across all industries with interests in the future of housing, including homebuilding, building materials manufacturing and distribution, housing and mortgage finance, industry media, design, construction, and renovation. Representatives on the Policy Advisory Board play an important role in identifying emerging issues and trends and are committed to advancing housing as a national priority.
