Hack-a-House 2024

Location: Virtual

Graduate and undergraduate students from Harvard and other schools are invited to participate in Hack-A-House, a 24-hour virtual hackathon for students to formulate and pitch innovative ideas to improve housing affordability. The competition is hosted by Ivory Innovations, a housing-focused nonprofit based at the University of Utah.

Hack-A-House is open to students at accredited universities and offers a chance to win over $12,000 in prizes. The competition will take place September 27-28, 2024, and is hosted entirely via Zoom, making it accessible for all students. Individuals can compete on their own or can ask to be placed on a team. Harvard students who are interested in forming a team can fill out this form to be connected to other interested students.

Participants are also invited to watch the Friday afternoon kickoff at 2:00 pm at the Joint Center for Housing Studies offices at One Bow Street, 4th Floor (light refreshments will be available) and are welcome to stay and work at the Center until our office closes at 5:00 pm.

Three winners selected during the virtual event will be flown to Cambridge to participate in the Ivory Prize Housing Innovation Summit on October 25. At the summit, each winner will have the opportunity to pitch their idea to a live audience of entrepreneurs, academics, and industry leaders from the housing sector. After hearing all three pitches, the audience will vote to select the Grand Prize winner.

Registration is now open at hackahouse.org
