Designing in and with Gentrifying Neighborhoods

Location: Graduate School of Design | Gund Hall, Room 124

Join us for a conversation with Elizabeth Timme (a Graduate School of Design alum) and Helen Leung (a Kennedy School alum), co-Executive Directors of LA-Más, a non-profit urban design organization that helps lower-income and underserved communities shape their future through policy and architecture. Their projects serve communities that need the most support, and do so in a way that preserves their local identity, raising up what is already working locally and helping communities grow by their own rules. They collaborate with city departments and developers to create much needed, local, contextual change. Their policy work uncovers challenges with existing city policies and connects the dots between project solutions, striving to positively impact hundreds of communities across the city.
