Can Housing Policy Create Connections and Build Community?

Location: Online Only

From reforming zoning to creating new forms of social housing, some recent policy initiatives are trying to create diverse mixed-income neighborhoods. However, absent concerted efforts, residents may not connect across their differences in class, age, race, ethnicity, or family structure. This event will explore how housing and neighborhood policies can create connections and relationships between people from diverse backgrounds in current and new mixed-income neighborhoods.

Sam Pressler (Harvard/UVA) will share a new report that provides a framework for government's role in strengthening connection in communities, and will be joined for a panel discussion  with moderator Chris Herbert (JCHS), as well as Nathalia Benitez-Perez (Boston's Office of Civic Organizing), Jamill Martinez (Lawrence CommunityWorks' NeighborCircles), and Alyssa Nickell (National Initiative on Mixed-Income Communities).
