A Call for Radical Inclusion: Affordability, Inclusivity, and the U.S. Housing Crisis

The Social Innovation and Change Initiative welcomes Micaela Connery (Cheng Fellow, MPP ‘16), Founder and CEO of The Kelsey, for a conversation on creating and advocating for inclusive spaces. The Kelsey creates mixed ability, mixed-income housing communities where people of all abilities and backgrounds live, play, and serve together. The Kelsey has attracted funders like the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to support its organizing, advocacy, and community building work and recently received $11 million from the City of San Jose to launch its first housing community, The Kelsey Ayer Station. A lifelong advocate for inclusion, Micaela is an award-winning social entrepreneur, published writer on inclusion, and international speaker on social impact from roundtables in the Bay Area to the World Economic Forum at Davos.

During this open conversation, Micaela will share candidly about her personal drive to create a more inclusive world, the journey of bringing The Kelsey from idea to implementation, and what’s next for inclusive housing in the U.S.
