The Impact of New Census Bureau Interim National Population Projections on Projected Household Growth in the United States

The previous round of Joint Center household projections were produced in October 2000 and expanded in 2002 to include tenure detail for four race/Hispanic origin populations — non-Hispanic whites, non-Hispanic blacks, non-Hispanic Asians/others, and Hispanics. These household projections were driven by Census Bureau population projections released in January 2000 that were benchmarked to 1999 population estimates updated from the 1990 Census. Baseline data from the 2000 Census were not yet available and were not incorporated into either the 2000 Census Bureau population projections or the 2000 and 2002 Joint Center household projections…
