Building Better Cities

Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies
One Bow Street, 4th Floor, Cambridge
3:00 pm

Jonathan Rose is an American real estate developer, urban planner and author. He is best known as a developer of affordable, environmentally responsible communities. In 1989, Rose founded Jonathan Rose Companies, which is now a leading developer of green, affordable and mix-income housing. The firm's planning work is focused on increasing opportunity for lower income families and addressing environmental issues, while its Smart Growth Investment Fund was the country’s first real estate fund focused exclusively on acquiring and retrofitting green buildings. The firm now has six investment funds, four of which focus on the acquisition and preservation of affordable housing.

Mr. Rose will join students to discuss his work and vision for a greener more equitable future. He will answer questions about his experience in affordable housing development, and how the public and private sectors can, in partnership or independently, maximize social impact.
